Losing it all and still voting for McSame

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 05:28:05 PM PDT

I talked with a childhood friend today. He and his wife both hold batchelors degrees and he a masters in business. They are both licensed real estate brokers. His wife runs their real estate and mortgage company and he works full time in the constuction industry. Or I should say he did until a few days ago....

Health care and the poor

Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 05:18:38 PM PDT

I am a social worker in a child abuse and neglect prevention program. I visit in homes and try to teach parents how to be better mommys and daddys in hopes that they won't abuse and neglect their children. We emphasize parent child interaction, self sufficiency, literacy, and proper health and dental care. Ahhhh.......there's the rub.

I Am Torn

Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 09:53:19 AM PDT

I was born in a small town in southeast Alabama in 1961. My father died when I was four. My mother raised my brother and I as a single parent. She worked in the cotton mills of the south until I was 13 years old. She then went to work in a nursing home as a CNA. She never made $10,000 in her life until the year before she died, which was 1992. I grew up in poverty. I grew up as a child of the civil rights era.

I Cry Every Day

Mon Aug 13, 2007 at 09:39:23 PM PDT

I have been reading Kos for a few months now but never posted. I had a discussion with my son via email a while ago during the late night filibuster. He was telling me some of the speakers almost brought him to tears. I told him "I cry everyday".
I am a single parent. I have raised two wonderful sons. Today, I am the mother of an American soldier. He serves in one of the most elite forces in the United States Armed Forces. He is the third generation of my famly to serve in the U.S. Army. He is deployed at this time.
I am also the mother of another son who is employed today in a large American city raising funds for the DNC.
And I indeed cry every day.
